I combine daily clinical practice with scientific research at the highest level.
I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physiotherapy at the Opole University of Technology. In 2018, I obtained a PhD in Health Sciences at the University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw, defending a thesis on the application of virtual reality in pulmonary rehabilitation.
In 2023, I obtained my habilitation in the field of medical and health sciences. In 2024, I completed osteopathic studies, merging scientific knowledge with therapeutic practice.
I completed a 9-month postdoctoral fellowship at IRCCS San Camillo in Venice under Prof. Andrea Turolla, and a 3-month placement at the Italian CNR Institute.
I collaborate with leading research centers worldwide, conducting joint research projects in virtual rehabilitation and medical technology.
My research focuses on the application of virtual reality in pulmonary and neurological rehabilitation, post-COVID-19 patient recovery, cybersickness in immersive VR environments, and modern technologies supporting therapeutic processes. My work has been published in leading indexed journals including Frontiers in Physiology (IF 4.755), Journal of Clinical Medicine (IF 4.964), Virtual Reality (IF 4.400), and Complementary Therapies in Medicine.
I have presented my research at the European Respiratory Society congresses in Milan and Madrid, the World Physiotherapy Congress in Dubai, the International Conference on Virtual Rehabilitation in Montreal, and at numerous conferences across Europe and the USA.
I am a member of the European Respiratory Society, the International Society for Virtual Rehabilitation, the Polish Lung Disease Society, and the Polish Society of Physiotherapy. My research profile is available on ORCID.
Since 2016, I have been researching the application of virtual reality in rehabilitation, as one of the first in the world to conduct VR clinical trials in COPD patients. To date, I have completed 10 research projects funded by NCN, NAWA, ERS, and the Ministry of Science, among others.
A project combining breathing techniques with an immersive VR environment as a form of therapeutic support for young people struggling with depression.
Ministry of ScienceA project investigating the effectiveness of combining immersive virtual reality with breathing exercises as a method to support the reduction of depression symptoms.
NCNAn international project conducted in collaboration with Matej Bel University in Slovakia, focused on restoring physical activity after the pandemic.
Erasmus+A program implementing virtual reality-based rehabilitation in hospital settings for patients hospitalized due to COVID-19.
NAWAAn innovative combination of virtual reality technology with respiratory muscle training — a new approach to pulmonary rehabilitation.
NCNA study examining the impact of virtual reality on exercise capacity parameters during stress tests in individuals who recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection.
NAWAA groundbreaking project investigating whether immersive VR programs can replace traditional rehabilitation for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
European Respiratory SocietyElsevier/Stanford Ranking -- 2023 and 2024. Among the most frequently cited scientists in the world acc. to Stanford University.
